SGH IC²E
Competitive edge companies
SGH IC²E invests in ASX listed companies which have (or will have) a business franchise. The features of a business franchise include:
- It is a good business
- It posesses a sustainable competitive advantage
- It is difficult for clients to discontinue using the product or service
- Often has pricing power, ie. can increase their product prices with minimal negative impact on the customer base.
- Posesses a moat around the business
These companies typically deliver more certain earnings growth.
To find companies which have the above attributes SGH IC²E continually looks for companies utilising assets which are difficult to replicate (such as licenses, patents, brands, a captive client base) and potentially an entrenched market position. Companies which fulfill these initial screening criteria are then submitted to a rigorous valuation process before finally being considered for inclusion in the portfolio.
Although benchmark unaware, the Fund aims to generate absolute returns for investors and outperform the market over the medium to long term.
